Welcome to Indie Kin

Indie Kin is an online resource and event for kids and parents. We connect local and independent artisans, makers, & vendors with families that love them.

What on earth is Indie Kin?

Well, I’m so glad you asked.

Indie Kin is an online place where you can find cool stuff for kids, resources for parents, and products and services for families that make life easier and more fun. While I will share ideas big and small, Indie Kin’s focus is on small businesses and independent makers that might not be found in that big box store, but make really kick-ass products nonetheless. Perhaps you are planning a party and want some rad inspiration or want to find some local vendors to work with. In that case, we’ve got you covered as well.

Not only will Indie Kin be an online resource but a live event as well. What? Imagine a trade show / expo / fair / hootenanny where families can mingle with local makers, sample family-friendly food options, try out products and services, and otherwise experience a fun day together.

This isn’t my first rodeo. Indie Kin is an offshoot of a similar event called Indie Wed which is the longest-running, independent wedding show in the country. Currently, in its 10th year, Indie Wed has connected over 14,000 attendees with over 1500 vendors over the course of 18 events in several cities across the country. For anyone in the midst of wedding planning, Indie Wed has become a vital resource for couples looking to ditch the cookie-cutter wedding industry and do it their own way.

Indie Wed is the alternative to traditional wedding shows. Indie Kin is the family version of this popular Chicago event.

Since I have two kids of my own, ages 6 & 11, replicating the concept of Indie Wed for families is something I’ve had in mind for a while and am so excited to finally bring it to life. For families with an independent spirit, I’m glad you are joining me on this journey.
